Urban breaks

Comillas
This small township, declared a historic-artistic site, offers magnificent popular architecture and beautiful stately homes that bear coats of arms from the families who owned them many centuries ago. Some of its main attractions include Sobrellano Palace, the Pontifical University and, of course, El Capricho, a masterpiece by the genius Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí.

Santillana del Mar
This town is Cantabria’s main historic-artistic site and its origins date back to Roman times, when it used to be an important urban area. It is home to the Collegiate Church of Santa Juliana, the most important Romanesque building in Cantabria; and the Altamira Caves.

Santander
The capital of Cantabria is an elegant city which boasts beautiful architecture on its streets. Santander’s beaches have also been awarded the Blue Flag by the European Union for reasons such as the high quality of its waters, their safety or accessibility for visitors with reduced mobility.
Beaches
We are surrounded by fantastic beaches
Our hotels and apartments in Isla are very close to three beaches of fine white sand and quiet beauty which proudly wave the Blue Flag awarded by the European Union every year thanks to the quality of their waters:

Nature

Picos de Europa National Park
The park presents the largest limestone mass of the continent’s Atlantic side. Its tricky landscape, with tall mountains presided by stunning summits and sharp ridges and deep and twisting gorges traversed by transparent water streams, lead to valleys covered in thick forests and plains. Potes is the town of reference to discover the area. Remember also to visit the Fuente Dé cable car, the main viewpoint for Picos de Europa.

Cabárceno
Cabárceno Nature Park is a karstic landscape which covers over 1,850 acres and is home to hundreds of animal species from the five continents who live in semi-wild conditions, distributed throughout large-size areas where the coexist with each other. They include bears, hippos, rhinoceros, tigers, elephants, wolves, gorillas, etc., all of which you can see up close during your visit. Also, the park organises two daily shows: bird of prey flights and shows with sea lions.

Santoña marshes
This Natural Reserve is one of the most beautiful landscapes in the western part of the region, home to a wide range of migratory bird species and fish.

El Soplao
This famous and spectacular cave is known as the ‘Sistine Chapel of the underground world’ and it constitutes one of Cantabria’s main subterranean secrets as well as one of the greatest speleological treasures on our planet.

Palaeolithic heritage
Cantabria is one of the most important regions in the world when it comes to Palaeolithic art, home to more than 50 caves with paintings which make up one of the largest concentrations of this kind throughout the globe.

Altamira Caves
Located in Santillana del Mar, these caves preserve one of the most important pictorial and artistic cycles from Prehistoric times, more specifically from the Upper Palaeolithic.

Trasmiera Ecopark
This stopover area for migratory birds, located in the municipality of Arnuero and also comprising the village of Isla, is a pioneer initiative in Spain with the support of the European Union which has seen the development of a territory based on its natural and cultural resources. The ecopark is a special place where history and nature come together every step of the way and is also a fantastic setting for hiking.
